NDIS Occupational Therapy and Specialist Behaviour Support

Assessment, Intervention, Skill Development, and Practical Support

People Centred Therapies provides individualised occupational therapy and specialist behaviour support focused on creating meaningful and lasting change in everyday life.

Our services extend beyond assessment and reporting. We work with participants to understand their needs, identify practical opportunities for change, build functional skills, support implementation, and measure whether intervention is producing meaningful outcomes.

Our Services

PCT provides two complementary allied health service streams. Each has its own clinical scope, assessment methods, and intervention approaches, while sharing a focus on functional outcomes, participation, quality of life, and individualised support.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists help participants understand and address barriers affecting everyday activities, independence, safety, and participation.

Services include functional assessment, capacity-building intervention, home and living assessment, sensory assessment, assistive technology, driving assessment, staff training, and practical recommendations for everyday life.

Specialist Behaviour Support

Our behaviour support practitioners work to understand why behaviours occur and what can be changed, taught, or supported differently to improve quality of life and reduce risk.

Services include behavioural assessment, Behaviour Support Plans, functional communication, daily living skill development, staff training, implementation support, and outcomes reporting.

From Understanding Need to Creating Change

PCT’s services may involve different professions and clinical methods, but our approach follows a common principle: assessment should inform action, and intervention should be evaluated by what changes for the participant.

Occupational Therapy Services

PCT provides occupational therapy assessment and intervention according to the participant’s functional needs, goals, and circumstances. Our current Occupational Therapy overview identifies capacity building as the cornerstone of the service, supported by a range of specialised assessments.

Capacity-Building Occupational Therapy

Develop practical skills, routines, and strategies that increase participation and independence in everyday life. Progress is monitored over time and may be formally documented where required.

Functional Capacity Assessments

Comprehensive assessment of how disability affects everyday functioning, participation, independence, and support requirements.

Home and Living Assessments

Assessment of current or proposed living arrangements, environmental needs, daily support requirements, and opportunities to increase independence.

Assistive Technology Assessments

Assessment, trial, and recommendation of assistive technology and relevant environmental solutions to improve safety, access, independence, or participation.

Sensory Assessments

Assessment of sensory processing patterns and how they may affect everyday activities, participation, routines, and environmental needs.

Occupational Therapy Driving Assessments

Assessment of how disability, injury, or a health condition may affect a person’s ability to drive safely and independently.

Occupational Therapy Staff Training

Practical training to help families, support workers, and other relevant people understand and implement occupational therapy recommendations consistently within everyday routines.

Specialist Behaviour Support Services

PCT provides assessment, planning, intervention, skill development, implementation support, and outcome evaluation across the behaviour support process.

Behaviour Needs Assessments

Determine whether specialist behaviour support is clinically indicated and, where appropriate, what type and level of support may be required.

Functional Behaviour Assessments

Develop an evidence-informed understanding of behaviours of concern, the circumstances influencing them, and the outcomes they may produce for the participant.

Behaviour Support Plans

Translate behavioural assessment into individualised proactive strategies, skill development, environmental changes, response guidance, and implementation requirements.

Functional Communication Training

Teach practical communication responses that allow participants to access important outcomes in more effective ways.

Functional Daily Living Skills Acquisition

Use structured teaching, task analysis, prompting, reinforcement, and progress measurement to develop practical skills for everyday life.

Behaviour Support Staff Training

Translate Behaviour Support Plans and intervention programs into practical implementation through instruction, modelling, rehearsal, feedback, and competency development.

Outcomes Reporting

Evaluate participant progress, behavioural outcomes, barriers, risks, implementation, and future support needs using evidence gathered across the reporting period.
